If you like the idea of a lustrmap but would like to take it one step further, you could have a whos.amung.us live map. The visitors actually on the site show up as flashing points and this is a great motivator for students who want to see who is looking and from where

After listening to two of Wes Fryer’s podcasts this morning on the way to work, he mentioned Google Notebook. Wow, what a wakeup call. Just what the students need when researching a topic area – an online scrapbook to add all their e-notes without trying to format it into a publication all at the same time.
I use Firefox as my browser and all this add-on does is to add another command to my right mouse click menu.
It simply says ” Note this (Google notebook)” and voila – the items selected are sent to your Google notebooks page, along with the original website link. When you have completed you research, you can then add the items to your document or presentation.
It can also be used collaboratively fro students to share resource banks
Features from the Google site:
- Clip useful information.
You can add clippings of text, images and links from web pages to your Google Notebook without ever leaving your browser window.
- Organize your notes.
You can create multiple notebooks, divide them into sections, and drag-and-drop your notes to stay organized.
- Get access from anywhere.
You can access your Google Notebooks from any computer by using your Google Accounts login.
you do need to register as a Google user beforehand – it is free
